Time is not going well for Brazil. They may have to face a big punishment on that. Brazilian football confederation (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodriguez may be banned from international football after a court in Rio de Janeiro ordered the suspension of Brazil's national team and their clubs.
FIFA and the South American Football Confederation (CONMABLE) warned the CBF in a new letter.
The court in Rio de Janeiro asked the CBF president Ednaldo and the entire board to resign within 30 days on December 7 due to irregularities. However, Ednaldo challenged this court and went to the high court. But it didn't work. The order of the lower court is upheld. And after the court's order, FIFA and CONMABLE wrote to the CBF asking for an explanation on this issue. However, no reply was given by the CBF.
Parts of the newly sent letter were published by the Brazilian press and Globo, "FIFA and CONCOMBELL strictly state that no decision can be made regarding the CBF and its elections until the commission is sent." If this directive is not followed, FIFA will have no option but to refer the matter to the appropriate authorities. It can also lead to bans. And if the CBF is banned by the competent authorities of FIFA, it will immediately lose all rights as a member (FIFA).
And the organization has also given some examples of how they can be harmed by this ban, 'It (the ban) means that no team or club affiliated to the CBF will be able to participate in international competitions. And it will remain in effect till the ban lasts. Neither the CBF nor its affiliated associations will be covered by any development project, training or course of FIFA and CONMABLE.
Meanwhile, according to the court's ruling, Ednaldo will have to resign by January 7. With this in mind, FIFA and CONMABLE have announced a special meeting on January 8. That is, even if they disobey their decision, the CBF will be punished immediately.
